Summary:

Today, individuals and families in Alberta have to cope with increasingly complex financial decisions and are challenged to navigate the financial services sector to ensure their own wellbeing and security. With increased individual responsibility, financial literacy is emerging as a global policy imperative. Lower--income households face challenges due to lack of access to appropriate financial information and advice to help them to save or to access social supports to which they are entitled. Lower--income households face additional risks from financial decisions due to the fact that they have fewer resources.
