Alexandra Pratt read an old National Geographic article about Mina Hubbard, who in 1905 vowed to finish a journey begun by her husband Leonidas. He had died of cold and starvation while making a 600-mile uncharted river journey from Goose Bay, Labrador to Ungava Bay, Quebec. Pratt, inspired by Mina's successful attempt, retraced the journey, while contemplating the region's history and the plight of the local Innu people.
