First Nations and Inuit health strategic plan a shared path to improved health

Summary: Over the last six decades, there have been many milestones that have contributed to better health outcomes for First Nations and Inuit. Unfortunately, their health status, as measured by most major indicators of health, remains below that of the Canadian population. These discrepancies are rooted in a range of historical, political, cultural, geographical and jurisdictional factors, which have resulted in the need for multisectoral and multijurisdictional frameworks that foster collective ownership and individual responsibility of First Nations and Inuit.
