BC early childhood vision screening program final evaluation report

Summary: In 2005, the British Columbia (BC) Ministry of Health established a province-wide goal to screen and detect vision disorders in children before they reach six years of age. To determine progress toward this provincial goal, the Ministry of Health approached the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP) at the University of British Columbia to conduct a systematic four-year evaluation of the BC Early Childhood Vision Screening Program. This final report provides an overview of the data sources and methods used in the evaluation process and a detailed summary of the 2007-2010 vision screening and follow-up results for kindergarten children and three-year-olds. Evaluation results are presented for the province, health authorities, and health service delivery areas.
