Summary: Most of us as adults are primarily aroused by other adults of the same or "other" sex or both sexes. Persons for whom their primary arousal is to objects or ideas or children or animals are called "paraphiliacs." Some paraphilias, such as BDSM and "furries," are not generally considered to be harmful. Others, such as exhibitionism, are harmful and, in some cases illegal, and thus are defined as "paraphilic disorders.
