Summary: There was a point in time that the North American Indians relied upon the construction and use of simple weapons to sustain the two necessities of life: procurement of food and the defense of families and communities. Daily life was constantly threatened by the forces of nature, opposing tribes, and most deadly of all, the invading white man. In response to the white intruder, the Indian warrior - who had spent his entire youth using bows and arrows, lances, shields, and war clubs - became a defiant, dangerous, and disciplined foe.
