Promoting youth mental health through the transition from high school : literature review and environmental scan

Summary: This literature review and environmental scan was conducted to inform the development of an intervention aimed at supporting student's mental health as they transition from high school. With support from a private foundation interested in the emotional health and wellness of youth, SRDC researchers sought to identify and explore the evidence-base regarding mental health promotion for senior high school students. This report describes related concepts and the academic literature on student mental health promotion, identifies relevant programs, and outlines what we consider to be important components of intervention to support students through this transition. Future work will focus on developing the parameters and content of an intervention, in collaboration with key partners in the mental health and educational sectors.
