Summary: Much has been made of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's advice to women to 'lean in' in order to achieve full representation in leadership positions - in politics, in business, and in their communities. However, it is more than a crisis of confidence keeping women from making it to the top. It is also the high level of violence they are experiencing. The World Health Organization estimates that 1 in 4 women in Canada will experience intimate partner violence or sexual violence in her lifetime.
