The things I cannot change Cover Image DVD DVD

The things I cannot change

Summary: Filmed in 1966, this remarkable documentary is a candid look at a Canadian famil in trouble. A cook, Kenneth Bailey is unemployed. He and his wife Gertrude have nine children under thirteen; a tenth child is born during the filming. Described by social workers as a "multi problem" family, the Baileys are forced to rely on charity for food and clothing. There are encounters with the police; there are difficulties getting enough to eat. By the end of the film, one wonders whether this family will survive long enough for the chilren to reach maturity. -- Review from back of Case.
